Our business areas
Our Transactions team is responsible for bringing pension schemes to Clara. Out in the market, this involves running training sessions for trustees, sponsors and advisers, as well as leading our marketing efforts. Internally, Transactions works closely with actuarial and legal colleagues to price and execute scheme transfers.
The actuarial team is responsible for new business pricing, working closely with the Clara Transactions & Legal teams along with Clara’s external advisers. For existing Clara Sections, the team works across asset-liability management, investment strategy optimisation and regulatory reporting. The work is technical in nature and requires a deep understanding of DB pension schemes, financial markets and the regulatory framework.
Our Trustee Services team supports Clara Trustee administrators and all of our service providers in upholding our commitment to a member-first experience.
The remit of our Operations team is broad, ranging from IT and Data Management to HR, Sourcing and Project Delivery. All of these areas work towards a single goal – ensuring Clara has the capacity and capability to deliver the best outcomes for our members.
The finance function sets Clara’s business plan, provides robust financial planning and analysis, and oversees the efficient and effective utilisation of working capital across the business; we provide treasury services, manage tax and liquidity, and ensure the business is well capitalised through strong investor engagement and leading on debt and equity financing; we produce audited financial statements and file accounts and tax returns for all corporate entities.
We rely on our Legal team for watertight strategic and technical advice on all legal issues surrounding pension consolidation, from transfer agreements and contracts to regulatory compliance and risk mitigation.
Providing second-line oversight and challenge of our people and processes, our Risk & Compliance team ensures Clara runs efficiently and safely in our members’ interests.

Working at Clara has been a truly unique experience, as we work in a transaction-focused yet trust-based environment. As the UK’s first pension superfund, we experience industry ‘firsts’ constantly, which means everyone in the organisation is working on developing innovative solutions that come with being a pioneer in the industry.
Working in a small company allows everyone to be involved across various projects, providing exposure to a wide range of stakeholders both internally and externally. The excitement and engagement from both colleagues and the industry is evidenced through significant growth in our pipeline and recruitment efforts. Since joining in early 2024, I’ve transitioned from a decade-long career in insurance—primarily focused on managing buy-out transitions—to a role in business development, having spent my first year supporting the Clara Trustee Board and managing scheme partner relationships. Clara has provided me with a huge learning curve which, combined with my prior experience, has allowed me to move into a role which I can shape and evolve whilst continuing to learn and develop at a fast pace.

I joined the Clara actuarial team over two years ago, after starting my career at a large pensions consultancy in Ireland. From the moment I joined, I was excited by the opportunity to be part of a dynamic, forward-thinking company that is genuinely committed to making a meaningful impact in the pensions industry. What stands out the most about Clara is the team. My colleagues are not only excellent at what they do but also incredibly supportive and friendly. There’s a genuine sense of camaraderie here, and the positive, collaborative culture makes every day at work enjoyable.
One of the things that I value most about Clara is that every team member’s contribution is recognised and appreciated. Whether big or small, everyone’s input plays an important role in the company’s success. Since joining, I’ve also felt supported in my professional journey, especially as I worked through the actuarial exams and qualification process. With ample opportunities for career progression, ongoing learning, and a supportive work culture, Clara Pensions is a great place for anyone looking to grow, innovate and make a difference.
We’re in the business of financial security, so as you’d expect, this is a principle we apply to our own people. Alongside a competitive salary and bonus, we offer an attractive range of benefits covering pension, protection, lifestyle and wellbeing.
We believe no one is better placed to steer your ambitions than you. That’s why, alongside the corporate training to align your skills with our goals, we’ll give you an annual development allowance to focus on your own individual learning.
We are committed to equality, diversity and inclusion as we know it helps us engage effectively with our members and clients, improves problem solving, avoids group-think, and ensures we have access to the widest talent pool as we scale. We recognise that diversity comes in many forms – all are welcome at Clara.
