Clara’s investment approach

An update on how we're thinking about investment issues and the development of our Statement of Investment Principles (September 2020).

At the heart of Clara is the Clara Pension Trust and its trustee, Clara Trustees Limited. The trustee is run by our trustee directors; Alan Pickering CBE, Michael Chatterton, on behalf of The Law Debenture Corporation plc, and Frank Oldham, on behalf of Independent Trustee Services Limited. It has responsibility for paying members and will oversee the majority of Clara’s invested assets.

The Clara Pension Trust has been established since October 2019, is registered with HMRC and The Pensions Regulator (TPR) and, once TPR’s assessment process is complete, will be able to take responsibility for transferring members. We’re preparing for Clara’s growth and building the governance, support and partners ready to take responsibility for transferring assets and members.

Given that Clara has not yet undertaken any transactions, the Clara Pension Trust doesn’t have any substantial assets to invest and only has the members required to formally establish the scheme. Although not yet required to do so, we will be confirming the appointment of our fiduciary manager and publishing our Statement of Investment Principles in the near future.

UPDATE: We confirmed the appointment of Kempen as our Fiduciary Manager in June 2021 and you find our Statement of Investment Principles from the announcement here.
